What a Girl Can Do w/ Feathers & a Glue Gun

It's me again...I'm still so excited to be here (squeal)! Okay I got that out. One of the main purposes of this blog is to connect to a supportive and encourageing creative community and even more personally for me - to learn how open up and share the sides of me I guard most close. With that being said, here are some pics of a birdcage veil I made for my dear friends wedding. AND it was my first one ever! I have to admit I felt like a proud parent watching it (and her) walk down the aisle. What is so funny is she was certain I could do it and I was absolutely terrified. Of course I procastinated for months searching for just the right feathers and scouring the net for tutorials. When I finally decided to bite the bullet I was shocked at how quickly it all came together.

I am like many artist, extremely critical of myself and work. But once she came by to try it on I have to admit I saw a glimpse of my own talent. It was weird letting myself having that moment. And its even weirder (is that a word??) sharing it here, but here it is...

I really love how his orange shirt goes with the slide. Its a great scheme for a scrapbook page. hmmmm... (as she stroked her chin slyly)

Im baaaack! I really love the access at work. I brought my camera to work and downloaded my pics so I can have full access. Yeah! I'll tell you a secret I learned a long time ago. If you're a creative and you have to work a 9 to 5 make the most of it. A PC, color printer, scanner, internet access and long distance can really be your best friend and enable you to kill a few birds with one stone. But shhh you didn' hear it from me.

Well I just wanted to share some pics I've taken over the last few weeks. Photography is another creative passion of mine, and my main subject my little schmookie. I would post some art I just finished but its on my laptop @ home. Dang it to all! Not to worry, I'll put those up tonight. Until then...

My First Blog Entry

Hi everybody! I mean its only me but I doing a little creative visualization. LOL. I just set up this blog, not my firtst...I was on another but was unable to access it at work, where I have the most. if any time at all to blog. But this is fabulous and am very optomistic that I will be able to keep this blog current.

Well let me introduce myself. My name is Jennifer and I'm a single mom of the cutest two year old little boy I have ever seen. I currently live in the DC area but am a southern girl at heart and will be back there before the summer is up (Yes!). This blog is an eclectic mix of my life as mommy, friend, daughter and as far as this blog goes most importantly emerging artist. I have fallen in complete love with the mixed media collage and all its quircky unruly-ness.

I have been creative for as long as I can remember from clothes, writing, spoken word, photography...the list goes on. Whats different this time? I'm coming out of the perverbial "creative closet" and pursuing a livelyhood in the arts. Wheh I felt my chest cave a little when I wrote that. This is a huge transition for me and has many implications on so many levels, many if not all I will get into as we get to know each other.

Well I'm not gonna chew your ear off. I'll leave you with a few pics of my life. I'm so excited we met and am super jazzed about this next phase of the journey.
